This week you are to respond to one of the following questions in your comment. Read the question carefully. Then respond in complete sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization.
If you read "The Purloined Letter," do you have any ideas about where the letter was hidden? Could the police have missed it, or might it be hidden somewhere else entirely? Give evidence from the story section to support your answer.
If you read "The Red-Headed League," tell us what you found strange or unusual in Mr. Wilson's story. Give evidence from the story section to support your answer.
In the royal palace where know one would look in the palace because they knew it was stolen, they wouldn't look in the palace so the thief is clever if he hid it in the palace that the people wouldn't look.
ReplyDeleteIn the royal palace I think Dupin had it and then he hid it in the drawer, but when Dupin had it I'm thinking he had a part in the letter being stolen.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Minister Darion had hidden it in one of his servant's houses because in the book it said that he had two servants and they didn't live in his house.
ReplyDeleteI think that the letter was hidden somewhere else entirely. It could possibly be in the ground away from the house because the story didn't say anything about digging.
ReplyDeleteI think it might be in Dupins' house because he might of had it already and then when he heard that there was going to be a big reward. In the story He said that there was going to be a big reward.
ReplyDeleteI think he was the one who stole the letter. I also, think he had it with him the whole time. I guess I will find out when we read the rest of the book!
ReplyDeleteI think the letter could have been hidden in the house because the last thing they were talking about before they found the letter was if they were gonna search the house again so they must have found it in the house after they searched it. So I predict that the police missed the letter when they were searching.
ReplyDelete"Well, there is some evinence that the menister still had it". He probibly knew if he stole that he was going to get searched, so he must have thought it out before he stole it.
ReplyDeleteThe detective was very smart about what he did. He must have known that the chief was going to ask for his help. The chief said that whoever found the letter would recieve $50,000 frances, so all he had to do what get the check and give him the letter.
Maybe Darion didn't hide it at all. It said they looked everywhere inside the house.
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin was the one who had the letter. He could have had it with him the whole time. I'm sure I will find out in the other half of the book.
ReplyDeleteMay be at the servant's houses. It never said they looked at their house.
ReplyDeleteI think Minister gave the letter to one his servants. It says that the servants live at another house,so he could give the letter to one of his servants so nobody would find it.
ReplyDeleteI think it was odd that Vincent Spaulding was willing to work for half pay just to learn the business. Mr. Wilson himself says he knows Mr.Spaulding could go elsewhere for doble what he could pay.
ReplyDeleteI think that he gave it to one of his servants. Then the servant gave it to the other servant and that servant hid it in the table.
ReplyDeleteI think that they really did not search the whole house because because they had thought that they had searched the whole house but they forgot to check the pillows and the air vents, which could be where Dupin had found it.
ReplyDeleteI think it was weird that Mr. Spaulding would apply for a job that pays him half the amount of pounds when jobs around him would pay him double that sum.
ReplyDeleteSince Dupin said they searched everywhere in the house, the person with the letter might have given it to someone then, given it to someone, then given it to Dupin.
ReplyDeleteI think the letter was hidden somewhere under the house. The police searched everywhere except for under the house.
ReplyDeleteI think that Minister gave it to one of his servants, because it said that the servants don't live in the same house. Plus, they didn't look in the servants house. I think the Minister gave it to one of his servants, because no one would think to look there. Maybe, Dupin knew that servant and Dupin gave the servant money so the servant gave him the letter so he got back his money all along.
ReplyDeleteI think it was weird how Mr. Spaulding didn't want better pay. Also when the boss of the red head league didn't show up anymore, I got suspicious. I think they are linked in some way.
ReplyDeletei think the letter was hidden somewhere in the house and dupil got there 1st and got it and thats why gerrard couldnt find it when he looked in the house.
ReplyDeleteI think the Minister gave the letter to a servant because he knew they wouldn't look in the servants house. Because the book told us that the servants stayed in a different house. Some how Dupin found out and payed the servant money to get the letter. Then Dupin wanted money for the letter from the chief because he stole it.
ReplyDeleteIt was odd that Vincent Spaulding knew so much about the Red Headed League. Its also kinda weird that every other man got rejected and Wilson didn't. Its like Spaulding and the little man knew each other.
ReplyDeleteI think before Gerrard and the police searched the house, I think Dupin searched the house before the police did. My evidence is how did he know that all that stuff was inside of the minister's house? How did he know what they used for the Minister Darion's home. So I think Dupin searched the house before Gerrard because when he said, "Search the house again," I thought that was an excuse for Dupin to put it inside of the minister's home.
ReplyDeletei think they hid it under the house because they didn't uncover the brick. and Duplin wore gloves or something to make sure they didn't notice.
ReplyDeleteI think that the minister had given it to someone because they would not know who the person was. Maybe the person dropped it when he was leaving a day later in the minister's yard.
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin got it from the servants in secret because they lived in different houses. I think that the Minister gave it to them
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin could have got it with a brib to one of the services ...or I think he could have got it by him self by sniking in and find it.
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin went to the house and found it befor the police did. I think he heard about it right as it happen so he went to the house to find it.
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin got it from the minister and knew the police would ask him to help solve it so he could get the reward
ReplyDeleteI think he could get it by a trade for something or he could have found it.
ReplyDeleteI think the minister gave it to one of his servants, because in the book it said the servants lived in different houses. Plus they didnt even look in the servant's house, and no one would really look in the servants house. I guess we will find out when we read the second part!
ReplyDeleteI think he gave it to one of his servants because if is not in the house it has to be with them or with the thief.
ReplyDeleteI think the most suspicious thing is about Vincent Spaulding. It is weird that he wanted to work with half pay.
ReplyDeletei think dupin could have been at the house before the cops or
ReplyDeletethat he could have something to do with the stolen letter
I think it was in the ministers house but Dupin found it before the chief did. The chief said he searched the house some nights, not every night.
ReplyDeleteI think he hid it in the carpet under the bed. When Dupin explored under the carpet but not in the carpet.
ReplyDeleteI think it was hidden some were else other than the ministers house . I think it may be at a servant or relatives house.
ReplyDeleteI think it was in the royal palace, but it was hidden in one of the pilers. Were Dupin bribed him into asking were.
ReplyDeleteI think that Dupin already looked in the ministters house before anybody so maybe he found it
ReplyDeleteI think the minister had the letter with him the whole time he was away so when the chief went to look for it, it wasn't at the minister's house or at the royal palace.
ReplyDeleteI think it was strange that only men with fiery red hair could be in the Red-Headed league. When there was an opening in the league, men with all colors of red hair came. For example, there was brick red, clay red, and orange red, but only ones with fiery red hair qualified.
ReplyDeleteI think Dupin found the letter while the police was looking outside. If the police was inside they could of seen him find it.
ReplyDeleteI thought the story was strange because there was just a random vacancy for a job that was perfect for Mr. Wilson. It had good pay and he was alittle poor, it was fairly easy work and it wouldn't mess with his occupation at the print shop. Then, he out of like a million people just so happened to be picked.
ReplyDeleteI think that the weirdest thing in The Read-Headed League Part 1 was the fact that they had been tricked before and that the little man had to pull on Mr. Wilson's hair.
ReplyDeleteI think the letter was hidden in the mattress of the minister's bed.
ReplyDeletei think that it was on the ceiling of the house of the Minister whail the poilce were getting ready to go back
ReplyDeleteI find it odd that there a league just for red heads and that they would pay so much money for someone who only met that one qualification.
ReplyDeleteThe one above belongs to Jesse pickle. The computor put down anonymous by accident.
ReplyDeleteI think that the minister put the letter back into the palace, cause the police would never susspect that he would hide it right where he got it.And Dupin figured that out and went to the palace to get it, therefore he then asked the cop for the money in exchage for the letter.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think when the theif stole the letter, he knew police were going to search his house so to trick them I think he hid it somewhere in the royal palace were nobody would look.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think he did was take the letter and dig a hole in the ceiling.Next I thing he put the letter in the hole and sealed the letter up tight.
ReplyDeleteI think that they searched in the wrong place because like they said, they looked through every book and every corner in the house and found nothing. That must mean the letter wasn't there.
ReplyDeleteI think that Dupin checked the house first before everyone and found it before anyone
ReplyDeleteThis is late and I know the awnswer, but at first I thought that Dupin stole the letter
ReplyDeleteI think in the red headed leage there was just a random job open that was just randomly open for such an expensive price.
ReplyDeleteI thought that while they were searching for the letter he took it and buried it somewhere near his house
ReplyDeleteWell, in "The Purloined Letter" I think the minister found the letter in the middle of his parking way or something. And kept it for no reason.
ReplyDeleteWell in the Purloined Letter I thought that he would hide it IN the house like in one of the bricks or between two of the bricks or some thing similar.
Maybe the Minister gave the letter to Dupin. And never hid it at all! Or he might have given it to one of the servents, because he might think they wont look where the servents are.
