On page 86 of The Hero's Trail, the author quotes from the Talmud, "Whatever you take, you will someday lose. But whatever you give, you will always have."
In a few sentences, explain what this quote means to you. Give an example if possible.
Wow I think that is powerful and touching in the same way. If you take it will come and nip you in the butt,if you give it comes back in a shiny box in a giant red bow
I think that T.A. Barron was trying to say.Something that you take you'll just forget about it someday.Whatever you give you'll always have a special place in your heart.
I think it means that if you take something or have something you will one day lose it when you go to Heaven. But if you give you will always have it in your heart. That's what I think it means.
T.A Barron meant that if you take this item it is not that important in your life.If you give it is always important cause you are helping others in need.
I think what T.A. Baron meant was that what ever you take or have you will lose when you go to Heaven. But what you give will always be in your heart. That's what I think it means.
I agree with lee18. I think what T.A. Barron meant was if were selfish and don't give to people who are less fortunate then us we will lose it all but, if we give to them and are not selfish we will gain everything we need for the rest of our life.
I think he means that if you give something from your heart that it's the same as getting a gift, but if you take something from somebody you will eventually lose it.
It's great to receive, but giving a giver shows how much you care and sometimes if you give it's a greater gift in return. ex. "Treasure in an Oatmeal box". The relationship between Mr. Matthews and Kevin all because of the wooden dog.
What I think it means is that when people are selfish, they always spend it on their selves and not there souroundings. And people who are alawys giving they are the ones who become mature and helpfull.
I think what it means is that if you get something, it probably will not last forever, but if you give to someone, the happiness they showed will always be in your heart.
To me, I think it is better to give than to receive. If a person is always taking they never have anything to give. Giving always comes back as a gift. The gift of love is an example - the more you give it and show it, the more it comes back to you.
I think that it means if you take something you will eventually lose. Whatever you give will be in your heart with you wherever you go. For example, if a robber robbed a bank and then gave the money back, he would feel less distressed and feel better.
I think it means that if you only take, you wont be happy. However, if you give, you will be really happy. I think it's sort of like what the Bible says.
I think what the quote means that if you take you won't get stuff in return. But if you give, blessings will be given to you just by the act of your gift. It's better to selfless than selfish.

This means to me that you might receive something that you really love but you're always gonna loose that love for that thing. But when you give someone else a gift, it doesn't have to be something you buy, it can be giving someone a smile or a hug or sitting with someone at lunch. But making that someone happy is a love that will last!
I think it means if you keep something it will probably be gone in heaven. But if you give something it will always be in your heart and you'll have a great time knowing you did something nice!
I think the quote means if you take something you will never feel good about it and it will never really be worth it but if you give something you will always remember how it made the other person happy and it will always be special to you. For example, if you cheated your brother out of money it's not really worth it but if you give something special to him it will make you feel really good!
I think it means if you don't give everthing to God you'll feel emptyness, but if you have faith, hope, and love and give everthing over to God you'll feel the emptyness is gone.
I think it means that if you don't give everything to God you'll feel empty but, if you do give everything to God that emptiness will disapear like magic.
Like if something is stolen like your heart from doing something very very very bad or like if you take something then you forget about it and leave it somewhere. And if you give it to someone and he or she wants it more than you then you and cares about then he or she might take care of it.
I think what T.A Barron meant was that something that we love,or loved that you always keep with you that one day it will be gone.
